It's a good song about how life is hard and even when there's good you are dealing with bad and you just have to get through the days. That's why it's bittersweet.

The people below are correct. That's too bad The Verve is no longer a band. The lead singer Richard Ashcroft has released a couple Cd's, but they lack what The Verve had.
